Peristaltic Nutrient Pumps
Peristaltic pumps are ideal for pumping plant nutrients and dilute acids. The liquid is contained
within a tube which is squeezed by a roller around a semi-circular track. This action moves the
liquid along the pipe providing the pumping action. There are therefore no valves to clog up or fail.
The tube itself is made of a robust material that should last a complete season. This tube is easily
replaced. Peristaltic pumps are completely self priming with no back flow or syphoning. Peristaltic
pumps are not recommended for concentrated acids, use the diaphragm pumps detailed below.
Tomtech manufacture a range of peristaltic pumps with different capacities.
PDP101 Peristaltic Pump
This is the smallest pump in the range. It is normally fitted with a 4.8mm bore tube giving a
maximum flow rate of 0.39 litres per minute. Smaller tube sizes can be fitted to reduce the volume
for research applications. This pump is driven by a DC motor which is speed controlled by altering
the duty cycle. The pump unit is housed in a plastic enclosure with front panel auto/manual switch
and prime button.
M1500 Peristaltic Pump
This pump is normally fitted with an 8mm bore tube giving a maximum flow rate of 1.6 litres per
minute. This pump is driven by a DC motor which is speed controlled by altering the duty cycle.
This pump is housed in a stainless steel enclosure with front panel auto/manual switch and prime
M3000 Peristaltic Pump
Larger volume pump with 10mm tube providing a maximum flow rate of 3 litres per minute. This
pump uses a 230v AC motor that is duty cycle controlled. The motor control electronics are housed
in a plastic enclosure with front panel auto/manual switch and prime button. The pump unit may
easily be mounted on a vertical or horizontal surface.
M6000 and M8000 Peristaltic Pumps
Larger volume pumps, the M6000 unit is fitted with 12.7mm bore tube giving a maximum flow rate
of 6 litres per minute while the M8000 uses 14.5mm tube providing 8 litres per minute. These
pumps are driven by a three phase motor from a standard single phase 230v AC supply. The control
electronics for this unit is enclosed in a separate control box which provides full variable speed
control for the motor.
Diaphragm Acid Pumps
The DXF diaphragm pumps are made from PTFE and Viton which make them very inert and ideal
for handling concentrated acids. Three models are available:
- DXF2 maximum flow 2 litres per hour
- DXF8 maximum flow 8 litres per hour
- DXF15 maximum flow 15 litres per hour
All these pumps are compatible with the Tomtech T200, IC20, HC80 and HC160 computers and the
Micro Feed controller with the exception of the M6000/M8000 which is designed to be driven by
